The present library has been expanded several times.
- There is no room to expand the present building
- The children's library is in the basement which means that children are often left unsupervised.
- Access to the basement is limited and in case of fire it would be difficult to reach the children. The rear basement door is now only a fire exit
- The rear entrance area was removed to make more floor space so the rear door is not available to the patrons.
- Because of the stairs to both levels of the library, handicapped and those with difficulty with stairs are unable to use the library.
- The entrance area is too small and does not allow sufficient room for boots etc.
- The electrical system was never designed to handle the present demand created by 5 computers.
- Due to the lack of floor space, shelving units had to be moved closer together, making it difficult for more than one person to use an area at the same time.
- The area for tables for reading and studying is cramped.
- The patron service area is immediately adjacent to the entranceway and this makes access difficult when there are several persons waiting for service.
- The office area is very cramped.
- There is no staff room and librarians must eat their lunch at the desk.
- We presently have no parking area
